2018 Travel Plans

. Sunday, 31 December 2017 .
2018 is going to be a very big year for me. At the end of July I will qualify as a Mental Health Nurse after 3 VERY long years at university. (If you want to know more about my training, check out this post.) I'll start my job as a newly qualified nurse a couple of months later, and if everything goes to plan I'll be moving to a new city for that job. So its going to be a year of hard work and big changes. However there is a lot of uncertainty around next year at the moment, so I only have one trip that is currently set in stone but a lot of other potential adventures. So I thought now would be a great time to share them with you guys.

Sri Lanka

In mid-June of 2018 I'm going to be heading to Sri Lanka for around 5 weeks. This is my only confirmed trip of the year at the moment. As a student nurse we get to do something called an Elective Placement, essentially this is our opportunity to go and do anything we want to that will further our knowledge as a nurse. Not everyone goes abroad for this, but you guys know how travel obsessed I am so how could I turn down an opportunity for such an adventure?! I am travelling with a company called Plan My Gap Year for this trip and I will actually be partnering with them to produce to content while I'm out there. This will be my first time working with a company in this capacity, so not only am I excited just to go and explore Sri Lanka but also for the incredible opportunity the trip is! My elective placement will last 4 weeks in a place called Ambalangoda and then I plan on spending an extra week or so visiting a few more places within the country; at the moment I hope to spend a few days in each Colombo, Kandy and Ella. I'm also going on another mini adventure during this time, but I'm afraid I'll be keeping that a secret until I actually get there! So keep your eyes peeled on my Twitter and Instagram for the big reveal.

Morocco

It has been my dream to visit Morocco for as long as I can remember. The pictures I have seen online look incredible and the culture is unlike any other country I have visited. I am hoping I will be able to visit Morocco some time in September of 2018, as I most likely will not start my graduate job until the beginning of October so it will be the perfect chance for me to relax and explore after finishing my degree before the real hard work starts! If I do get the chance to visit Morocco I will definitely be spending a few days in Marrakesh and then hopefully visit Casablanca too. I fell in love with the city when I watched the 1942 film so I would love the opportunity to visit there.

European Winter Break

In December of 2018 I hope to be able to visit a European city, I just haven't decided which one yet! This year I went to Berlin, mainly because it's a city I had never been to before but also because I wanted to experience the Christmas markets! The Germans are famous for their Christmas celebrations but I am aware that other European cities are also incredible to visit at this time of year. I'm going to do a lot more research before I decide on where to go, but hopefully I'll get a few days to go on another Winter break. If you have any suggestions of cities that are great to visit in December I would love to hear about it!

So this is all subject to change, apart from Sri Lanka, and maybe I'll get the chance to squeeze in another short trip or two in the next year - but no matter what 2018 is shaping up to be an awesome year for travel.

Do you have any adventures planned for 2018? I'd love to know where you're off to!

Morocco is a place that I'd love to visit, as well as the amazing culture, they have an incredible water park hotel in Marrakesh which my boyfriend is dead keen on staying at haha! Fingers crossed that I'll make it out there in 2018 just like you!
